Founded in 1999 and based in Belgium, the vocal ensemble Graindelavoix under the direction of Björn Schmelzer has forged an exclusive niche within the early music scene through unusual programming, a multidisciplinary way of thinking and an intense style of interpretation. The ensemble’s rough, “grainy” style of singing imbues the works with a primal character reminiscent of Sardinian vocal groups.
